Dream Hunters: Educational board game related to injustice

Young people all over the world harbor dreams: from adventurous travel and fascinating studies to a secure future and a stable job. In this game, the players are each provided with a dream and an identity and they commit themselves to realizing their specific dream from that unique situation by overcoming obstacles. Who will manage to create opportunities and overcome obstacles to make their dreams come true?

YOUCA vzw developed dream hunters to make young people aware of injustice and to discuss this theme with them. The game illustrates the obstacles that young people worldwide experience in pursuing their dreams and is based on the experiences that YOUCA young people gain over the years. Dream Hunters can be played both at school and in a leisure context. The game requires guidance by a facilitator who does not participate in the game. This facilitator will lead a debriefing after the game to support young people and encourage them to share their experiences.

During the game, participants discover the impact of injustice, how it can take different forms worldwide, experience the barriers it raises and can use creative thinking and solidarity actions to fight for a more just society.

The game focuses on various themes related to our struggle for a more sustainable and just society, such as discrimination based on skin color, religion, disability, place of residence, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation ... global inequality; migration and flight; climate; values and norms; and more!

A debriefing will be provided afterwards, for which the supervisor will receive guidelines. This way, participants can share their experiences and learn from each other.
