ZOO Science puts the zoological expertise and scientific activities of ZOO Antwerp and ZOO Planckendael in the spotlight. Its own zoological research center, the Antwerp ZOO Center for Research and Conservation (CRC), conducts applied and fundamental research in zoos and research stations in the field. Since its inception in 2002, the CRC has grown into one of the most progressive zoo research centers worldwide. With their research in the field of animal welfare, population management and fundamental zoology, they want to contribute to the continued existence of sustainable populations in zoos and in nature and to nature conservation more generally.
